“(We are) sending big hugs, apparently he will be home for Christmas which is amazing news.”
Sam explained the girls choir would perform Cold Chisel’s 1984 hit Flame Trees as a tribute to Barnes — which they did flawlessly.
A jovial Sam was clearly moved by the rendition.
“How special is that?We love you, Jimmy!” he said.
Just days ago, Barnes’ wife Jane revealed the singer would be home in time for Christmas.
“On the 6th Day of Christmas my true love said to me … ‘The doctor says I can go home on Friday’,” she shared in an Instagram post from the singer’s hospital bedside.

Barnes underwent open-heart surgery on December 13 after a bacterial infection spread to a heart valve.
Just before the surgery, he posted a long message to his social media followers explaining he would be “out of action for a while”, adding it had “all happened very suddenly”.
“Unfortunately I got some bad news late yesterday … despite everyone’s best efforts the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,” he wrote.
“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open-heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.
“Obviously this is going to take me out of action for a while.
“I know lots of other people are battling even worse things but it still feels hugely frustrating.
“Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I’ve been in decades!”
Earlier in 2023, the singer was on bed rest following emergency hip surgery and was forced to cancel his summer tour.
The Cold Chisel frontman is clearly a fighter, as his fans recognised after his wife’s latest happy update.
“So very good to hear Jimmy. You are amazing mate,” one fan wrote.
“Way to go Jimmy, you’re a true legend and inspiration mate,” another added.
“So pleased for you Jimmy and hope you stay in good health from now on,” another person wrote.
