Caroline Kennedy is the spitting image of her mother Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis during Sunrise interview

Caroline Kennedy comes from one of the world’s most well-known political dynasties.

And the US Ambassador, 66, was the spitting image of her famous mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis on Tuesday, during an exclusive interview with Sunrise.

Caroline, who is the daughter of former US President John F. Kennedy, gave rare insight into her family life as she discussed her plans for Christmas.

“I am staying in Australia, my husband (Edwin Schlossberg) and I will be here,” Caroline confirmed.

“My daughter and grandson just left so we had an early family Christmas.

“(But) we are going to be in Canberra.”

Caroline, who has served as America’s top diplomat down under for the past 17 months, said she wanted to enjoy a typical Australian Christmas with plenty of seafood.

The ambassador has three adult children: John, Rose and Tatiana Schlossberg, all of whom are still based in New York City during her tenure in Australia.

Caroline is the daughter of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who served as the First Lady of the United States from 1961 until her husband’s death in 1963.

She later became a global style icon in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.

During the segment, Caroline turned her attention to politics, after a recent visit to Antarctica, trumpeting how Australia and the US were working together.

“Australia just helped rescue an American scientist who was having a medical emergency,” Caroline explained.

“That’s the kind of partnership that we have — we work incredibly closely together.”

During the trip to Antarctica, Caroline met with a number of Australian scientists to discuss the ice core along with global weather patterns, and the urgency of climate change — all issues for which the diplomat has a strong personal and professional passion.

“I think it is important to address the climate change issue more forcefully and we see our two nations working together (on that),” she said.

At this moment, Caroline pointed out American and Australian values were closely aligned, with the two countries close allies for many decades.

“We don’t have a closer ally with whom we share value, tradition, and history,” Caroline said.

“I think I feel really lucky that there is such a strong foundation to build on through all our shared partnership going back a hundred years,” she finished.
