As Barbie fever grips Australia, former Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle has shared a surprise Barbie meets Sunrise collaboration on social media.
The journalist shared a photo of two Barbies and two Kens sitting behind a replica Sunrise desk, imitating the former Sunrise team of Natalie Barr, Mel, David Koch and Mark Beretta.

“That time the makers of @barbie worked their magic on the Sunrise team!” she captioned the post.
On the Barbie version of the news desk was a series of mini newspapers, mini Sunrise coffee mugs and Barbie boxes.
Fans were quick to point out two hilarious details of the Barbies.

“The most realistic one is Kochie’s chrome dome.😮 🙌 👏 👏,” one said, observing the Kochie doll’s head.
Meanwhile, another laughed at a detail about Nat’s Barbie doll.

“Geez Nat’s top’s a bit low,” one wrote about the doll to the left, which was wearing a 2000s-inspired cardigan over a spaghetti-strap cami top.
“What a great memory, This is hilarious!! 😂” another said, as a fourth remarked that Beretts’ doll looks “like Ken”.
Mel was the first Sunrise host alongside David Koch in 2002, until she announced she was stepping back in 2013.

Samantha Armytage took over until 2021 when Natalie Barr began co-hosting.
Meanwhile, Kochie left his role as co-host in June 2023 after 21 years in the role.
During his farewell episode, Mel shared some tips on adjusting to ‘normal life’ after years of early-morning wake-ups.
She said that, while the sleep-ins were great, the highlight for her had been the ability to reclaim the evenings.

“The mornings you sleep in, no problem,” she said, explaining that it was the nights that were an adjustment.
Kochie teased that during his Sunrise days, he always had to “book the kid’s time” slot if he went out for dinner, referring to the need for early nights.
Mel’s Barbie post comes as she is away with her family, supporting her son Nick Dunlop who is a part of the Australian Rowing Team.

The proud mum took to Instagram, celebrating after the team won gold in an international regatta held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
“Really trying hard not to be an embarrassing mum, but failing. Bawling like a baby. Gold!” she wrote on Tuesday.
“World Champions!! Back-to-back gold!”
