Natalie Barr leaves Sunrise set early after sharing emotional family news

Natalie Barr surprised Sunrise viewers on Wednesday by making an unexpected announcement.

The co-host left the show early, telling the team she was “about to take off” for a very special reason.

Admitting she was “quite emotional”, Nat shared that it was her son Hunter’s final school assembly.

“Today is a big day for me. It’s our last son’s last school assembly,” she said.

Nat has two boys, Lachlan and younger son Hunter, with her husband Andrew Thompson.

“So I’m about to take off. Just got one more interview after this.”

“That’s so exciting,” Monique Wright said.

“It’s quite emotional. I’m sure lots of viewers have gone through it.

“It’s kind of big. You have to be there for that milestone.

“I will be off for the rest of the show after the next interview.”

“How is Hunter feeling?” co-host Matt Shirvington asked.

“Yeah he’s feeling good but it’s scary. HSC is coming up in NSW – 11 October all that starts, but last day of school, we all remember that don’t we?

“It’s a big day, we’re having a big assembly.”

Monique added that graduation is “possibly a bigger day for mums and dads”.

“Especially your last one going through,” Nat agreed.

“Your baby!” Shirvo said.

Monique filled in for the remainder of Wednesday’s show.
