“I am still nervous about it today but when I truly sit in that truth I feel like I’m honestly my best self,” Nat said.
The former Neighbours star, who will attend Mardi Gras for the first time this year, explained her coming out story was different to a lot of people in the queer community.

“It’s very confronting — coming out at any age — but for me, it’s a very different situation, being an older woman,” Nat said.
“It is scary, you know — so I very much realise how my friends felt, and a lot of the community (still) feel (about coming out).”
Nat said often times LGBTIQA+ member still felt nervous they wouldn’t be accepted.
“They feel ostracised — there is a lot of fear surrounding it, that you will be judged and you can’t authentically be yourself,” she said.
Nat announced in November she was in a same-sex relationship when she sat down for an interview with Stellar magazine.
Nat debuted her partner in a sweet Instagram video, in which she walked hand-in-hand with Pip Loth — who was first identified as her new partner by the Herald Sun.
Loth, who identifies as non-binary according to their Instagram account, is a stage manager who worked with Bassingthwaighte on the 2021 musical Jagged Little Pill, the Herald Sun reported.
Loth also shared a happy-looking picture with Bassingthwaighte on Instagram.
“Appreciation post for the most incredible woman who is not only giving me strength, support, love and immense joy, but is teaching me to understand and accept that I am deserving of these things and have them within myself too,” they wrote.
“She’s teaching me to breathe deeply, to trust and to be my truest self. I am so incredibly lucky and overwhelmingly grateful for you @natbassingthwaighte. 🌈❤️🔥”.
Bassingthwaighte and her former husband Cameron McGlinchey, who she married in 2011, have two children: Harper and Hendrix.
The couple split in 2022.
Bassingthwaighte opened up on her personal life in an interview with Stellar magazine’s Something To Talk About podcast, speaking about her split from Cameron.
“We had a very successful marriage. It was very beautiful,” she said.
“We’ve done amazing things together, achieved a lot and have two incredible children.
“We admire and respect each other, and there’s love there.
“It’s just different.”
