Sunrise host Nat Barr takes on Sam Mac over on-air Shirvo roast

Sunrise host Natalie Barr has taken on Sam Mac live on-air after the weather star sledged her co-host Matt Shirvington.

Sam took aim at Shirvo after the former Olympian revealed earlier in the telecast that he was travelling to Brisbane for the weekend, and had managed to land a ticket to watch the Matildas take on France in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Sam was presenting the weather from Ipswich, Queensland, on Friday and said he was hoping to stay in the Sunshine State to see the quarter finals match on August 12.

However, his plans were thwarted when he was unable to source a spare ticket – and blamed Shirvo for taking the last one.

Sacked WFH worker in explosive new Sunrise interview: ‘I was targeted’

“Guys you know what, I was hoping to stay in Brisbane – it’s all happening in Brisbane this weekend,” he said.

“I was hoping to stay for the Matildas game but apparently the last ticket went to someone at Sunrise.

“I haven’t heard who got it yet, but I won’t be going.

“As a lifelong football fan – you know, somebody who represented our nation at schoolboy soccer, I don’t really talk publicly about that.

“But anyway, apparently someone at Sunrise got the tickets so I missed out. But that’s OK, I’ll be doing the City2Surf this weekend.”

It was then that Nat stepped in to stand up for Shirvo, who represented Australia at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

“You talk more about whatever on earth you did with soccer than the guy next to me – who went to the Olympics!” she exclaimed.

But Sam refused to back down saying: “Oh, you mean the guy who stole the last ticket that was allocated to Channel Seven, that guy? Oh OK.”

Shirvo diffused the situation by denying Sam’s claims.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said. “I’m going to EKKA, that’s what I’m in Brisbane for.”
