Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew reveals secret history with rap icons TLC as group announce Australian tour

Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew revealed girl group TLC was her first big celebrity interview.

Eddy, 40, interviewed Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas on Sunrise on Friday, sharing a touching story with the No Scrubs hitmakers.

“When I started interviewing celebrities, you guys were the very first I spoke to in the same room, I was so nervous because your music was the soundtrack to my adolescence,” Eddy said.

The entertainment reporter explained how it was “amazing” to see the American music stars in person, praising them for how down-to-earth they were to her as a newcomer journalist.

“You were so gracious and so wonderful,” Eddy said.

“I just wanted to thank you for that.”

TLC thanked a flustered Eddy for sharing her story, with the musicians clearly pleased she held such fond memories from the interview.

TLC were on the breakfast show to talk about the 30th anniversary of their album Crazy Sexy Cool, with the girl group touring Australia in March next year.

The group will play shows in Australian capital cities. They will bring fellow hitmakers Busta Rhymes and En Vogue along with them for the tour.

Crazy Sexy Cool sold 85 million records worldwide. In Australia, it was in the Top 100 for 76 weeks.

“You just blew our mind just now,” Rozonda said, hearing the statistics.

“That’s crazy. I never knew that,” Tionne added.

The pair spoke highly of other female artists, including Beyonce, clearly pleased for the success of female entertainers.

“We’re in a season where that door is really open,” Rozonda said.

“I’m proud of all the women in the business, and they’ve really taken advantage of that (the popularity of female artists), which is a good thing,” she added.

The singers also praised En Vogue and Busta Rhymes.

“It’s all kinds of different energy (having them on the tour),” Tionne said.

“It’s one big party.”
