The pair are renovating an historic hotel, The Victoria 1846, in the regional NSW town of Carcoar.

They took to Instagram over the weekend with a video explaining what stage they were up to with the restoration and why there had been some recent social media silence.

“Hello again from @thevictoria1846,” the video was captioned.

“We have defrosted @neilwrites after a cold Carcoar winter and now it’s all systems go on our guest house renovation.

“@studio_uc_ completed our landscape plans and we have started work on the garden.

“We are set for our garage sale on October 29th. Anyone need a Jason La-z-boy?

“Please enjoy this update featuring interruptions from @mateandme and an ill-timed car rally.

“Oh … and we might have to change the name.

“More on that soon.”

The video gives a glimpse into all the hard work that has already gone into the project, which has a proposed 2025 completion date.

“Well, we’ve been a little bit quiet on here recently, haven’t we?” Edwina begins the video, turning to Neil.

“Well, I’ve been in hibernation from what has been a very cold Carcoar winter,” Neil responds, laughing.

“But now it’s spring – and it’s on!” Edwina adds.

The pair explain that they have been focusing on outside work, including lawn-mowing, hedge-trimming, clearing fences, “hacking away at bushes” and pressure cleaning.

“Feeling the pressure?” Eddy jokes, to which Neil responds: “A little,” before spraying his wife with water.

Eddy then jokes that Neil spent the entire Carcoar winter “not getting the oil burner working”.

“Instead, he just grew a beard for insulation,” she says.

“But he also cleared out the house and moved everything into the shed for what will be a massive garage sale.”

The video then shows some of the items that will be on sale, from quirky kitchenware to pieces of furniture and lots of “genuine fakes”.

“We’ve now filled eight skip bins worth of rubbish,” Eddy continues.

“Now it’s time for the garden design.

“The aim is to restore this traditional garden at the front and turn the back section into something other than, well, a hell of a lot of grass to mow.”

Adds Neil: “The first step is to bring down all the grass to create a clean slate.”

“We need to re-establish all the boundary fencing and then hopefully run sheep on this hill,” Eddy explains.

“A simple picket fence out the front and we’re ready to start inside.”

Eddy then concluded that they have a “bit of an issue” with their proposed name, The Victoria 1846.

“Not the Victoria anymore – something else,” Eddy says.

“But maybe we’ll tackle that next time?”

“I think so,” Neil concurs.

Followers loved the update.

“Loving this episode of ‘Eddy’s Homes and Gardens’,” Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac wrote.

“Absolutely fabulous!” wrote another.

“This will be amazing – how exciting,” said a third.

One fan said they couldn’t wait to see the transformation.

“So much fun to watch,” added one.

“Wow, looking good, can’t wait for the next update,” said another.
