Sunrise stars Monique Wright and Mark Beretta play childhood game as the panel are left outraged by Jaffas getting the axe

Sunrise stars Monique Wright and Mark Beretta joined the uproar over wildly popular chocolates Jaffas being axed from Woolworths.

Discussing their “choc shock” over the surprise move by the supermarket giant this week, things quickly turned playful for the pair at Brekky Central on Wednesday.

After digging out a Jaffa from an open packet sitting on the studio desk, Mon attempted to launch one of the chocolates into Mark’s mouth, in a daring childhood game.

“Are you ready?” Mon said, lining up a Jaffa at Beretta’s mouth.

“Oh no, here goes a tooth!” Mark shot back.

Mon threw the chocolate ball, narrowly missing Mark’s mouth, as the panel erupted in laughter.

Monique, Matt, Mark, and Edwina each spoke of their outrage after the chocolates were pulled from Woolworths shelves pending an internal review.

The popular chocolate balls — which have a crisp red coating and orange-flavoured chocolate filling — have been available in Australia for a staggering 101 years.

Mon later mused as to why the chocolates were pulled from the supermarket giant’s range.

“(Do you think) Jaffas is one of those ones we want to have there — but we’re not buying?” Monique asked.

“I don’t think I’ve had a Jaffa for a little while,” Shirvo admitted.

“Maybe we can start a Jaffa campaign — the official lolly of Christmas,” Mark chimed in.

Earlier in the broadcast, Edwina confessed the chocolate was a firm favourite for her, expressing her heartbreak over the move by the retailer.

“It’s left some shoppers calling it a ‘travesty’ because it’s their favourite chocolate. That is me,” Edwina said.

“I’ve actually come dressed as one today,” she added, pointing to her red ensemble.

“It is moments like these!” Monique said, opening a Mintie.

Finishing the segment, Shirvo said the humble Mintie was the “dentist’s best friend”.
